Local self government is required because problems at the local level are best solved by local governments. Problems like drainage, road maintenance, maintaining records of birth and death etc cannot be properly dealt with by central and state governments.The local governance has some very important characteristics that gives its importance, such as decentralization and local autonomy, which made the function part of it. Its importance regards the fact that it better suits the local needs, but also gives a better representation of the local peoples and their will.
