Because on the morning of 14 July 1798 the rumours spread that the king will soon the army to open fire in the city and then around thousand of men and women gathered in the front of town hall in search of ammunition the breakdown the building in search of arms. The also breakdown the jail which is known as bastille they kill the commander of the jail and released the prisoners thought there was only 7 of them yet the bastille was hated by all as it stood for the despotic power of King. The fortress was demolished and its stone fragments were sold in the markets to those who wished to keep a souvenir of its destruction.
