Tommy looked at Margie with superior eyes because he was feeling awful because Margie did not know about the schools in previous times. He found Margie's questions stupid which was the reason for his awkward behavior with Margie. Another reason is that he was busy reading the book and he also found answering Margie's foolish questions irritable.

Answer :
In the short story 'The Fun They Had' By Isaac Asimov, Tommy was a thirteen-year-old and had seen many more telebooks than Margie who was just eleven. He, thus, considered himself more knowledgeable and superior than her. Margie had no idea about old schools on which the book that Tommy had discovered was based. Tommy was busy reading the book and was irritated by the stupid questions Margie was continuously asking him as she could not understand why someone would write about schools.
