that is because water is polar solvent and fingers are living organisms that requires. oxygen which is dissolved in water so our fingers can't absorb dissolved oxygen

Actually our fingers get wrinkly if we immerse our fingers in the water for a long time. Our skin has sebum which is a special oil secreted by our skin. It always moistens and lubricates our skin, we can't see it.
Ever wondered why our doesn't absorb water rather water trickles down from our hand when we wash them? It's all due to sebum. It prevents water to soak in our hands.
But staying in water for a long period of time washes this outer layer (sebum).. Then water enters into outer layer of the skin. This leads to wrinkling of our fingers.
