The don't consider Dalit ae equal because we had a Varna system in earlier times.

Varna system includes 4 varnas....

1. Brahmins - Their work is to teach people and do prayers.

2. Kshatriya - Their work to rule and protect from attacks

3. Vaishya - These include communities like business and merchants.

4. Shudras/ Dalit - These include semi-skilled Or unskilled workers. They are the servants of above three Varnas.

*** Brahmins and Kshatriyas are considered as upper varnas while Vaishyas and Shudras/Dalits are lower varnas.

Dalits are also considered as Untouchables. And they are always treated badly by upper varnas. In this way, the inequality among Indian people is going on and on and on.
