why does the top soil contain much more humus than sub soil

because the dead plants and animals gets decomposed by the degradation of bacteria in the uppermost layer of soil

Answer:

it is because humus is made up of dead and decaying matter and most of the living organisms are found in the topsoil . as these organisms are dead tey form the humus.
