Why does water trickle off lotus leaves ?

The water trucks off of the leaves of lotus because their leaves have a waxy coating. When water drops fall on this surface, they roll down, carrying dirt particles with them. The wax is also capable of self-regeneration. ... That's a reason water droplets trickle on the lotus leaves.
