Zimbabwe got its independence in the year 1980. Since then Zimbabwe is being ruled by only one person - Robert Mugabe. Robert Mugabe is the leader of Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front. In 1980, Robert Mugabe first took charge as the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe and then as the President from 1988, after merger with the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) and retaining the name ZANU - PF.

Public is not happy in Zimbabwe with Robert Mugabe because he is a leader who uses unfair means to win the elections. He has changed country's constitution several times just to make himself powerful. Citizens are not allowed to protest against the government and cannot hold public meetings. Media persons has been tortured if they write against the policies of the government. Only one party is winning the elections in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe achieved independence and white minority started ruling the country in 1980. Because then the nation has been controlled by ZANU-PF, it was the minority party which led the independence struggle, by its general Robert Mugave.

After independence elections have been held regularly and perpetually succeeded by ZANU-PF. As President Mugave is successful but he also originated functioning unfair methods in elections. Over the times this government has changed the organization several times to increase his dominance and became less accountable.

Opposition party workers were disturbed and their meeting suspended. Public demonstrations and turmoil against the administration are illegal. There is a law that defines the right to examine the president. Moreover, there are independent publications but administration attacks journalists who go against it.
