Why is the glass pane of a window shutters when a flying pebble hit it?

this is due to the impulse made by the pebble because it hits with a great velocity and time interval is less therefore more impulsive force will take place.....this causes glass pane yo shutter...hope it helps. .......if it does plz follow me so that I can answer more of ur doubts. ....

The flying pebble has a high velocity. When it strikes the glass pane, the velocity becomes zero in a very short interval of time i.e., the rate of change of momentum is large. Therefore, the force applied on the glass pane is large and so, the glass pane shatters.
