The gaseous balance in plants is quite complex because plant cells carry on both respiration and photosynthesis. Plants respire in much the same way as animals; oxygen is used to oxidize carbohydrates, and carbon dioxide and water are produced as waste products.

Animals respire faster cause their body is more complex and they undergo locomotion.

REspiration is the process of burning our food to produce energy. Animals move around and they will need a lot energy for their daily requirements, plants stay in their place and just create food, they do much less work than animals do, animals will need more energy than plants and hence, rate of respiration is faster in animals
