1) The sun appearing red is related to scattering of light.
2)At the time of sunrise and sunset, the sun is near to the horizon.
3)Thus, the sun light has to travel a long through the atmosphere to teacher the observer.
3)The blue and violet lights are scattered in greater amounts then the red light.
4)Also, the thickness of the atmosphere is very high between the horizon and the observer. Therefore, the blue and violet lights gets scattered away from the path of light.
5)The light that reaches the observer is mostly red or yellow.
6) Hence, the sun appears reddish during sunrise and sunset.........
