Why wurtz reaction is not used for preparation of alkane with odd number of carbon atoms?

Wurtz reaction is not used to make alkanes of odd number of carbon atoms because in this reaction the number of carbon atoms double to form alkane.If we take odd number of carbon halide than it forms even number of carbon alkane.
Ex - 2CH3CH2CH2Cl i.e Propyl chloride + 2Na + dry ether =====> CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3 i.e Hexane.
