Matheran being one of the best hill stations in the Maharashtra, many people visit this place every year. This is a small guide for enjoying your Matheran trip to the fullest!!
1.Try Toy-Train: There is a famous toy train called “Matheran-Chi-Rani (Queen of Matheran)” that regularly plies between Neral to Matheran. Neral is popular railway station on the central railway. This toy train runs through various mountains so you can see amazing panoramic views, valleys, dense forest, various birds (and animals if you are lucky!)
2.Points: There are close to 30 tourist points in Matheran. Panorama Point, Echo Point, Honeymoon Point, Monkey Point, Sunset Point, One Tree Hill Point, Louisa Point are some of them. About 2 days are enough to cover most of the popular points.
3.Horse Riding: As Matheran is a big hill station, various points on Matheran are situated at a considerable distance from each other. But don’t worry, horse riders are there for your help! You can choose any horse of your choice and they charge you about 100 to 200rs for single way journey. It gives an amazing experience of riding a horse amidst foggy surroundings! ☺️
4.One Tree Hill Trek: One tree hill point is one of the popular points of Matheran. It is a small to trek from main Matheran village. You can get an expansive view of the surrounding region from this point!
5.Lakeside Walk: Early morning walks nearby Charlotte Lake freshens you greatly. At this point, you can experience pleasant chirping of birds, soothing climate and cool breeze in the morning!
6.Valley Crossing: If you are an adventure enthusiastic then try Valley Crossing at Honeymoon Point. It involves the crossing of 300 meters valley by hanging on a rope. You will be crossing the valley between two mountains at 800-900 feet above the land level. One can see breath-taking bird eye views of the nearby region while doing valley crossing. It's absolutely adventurous!! ✌
