Aim:-Study of displacement reaction.

Procedure:-
(1) Take two test tube and add 10 ml of dilute copper sulfate solution to each of them.

(2) Take two iron nails.Tie one of the iron nails with a thread and suspend one of it carefully in copper sulfate solution in one test tube.

(3) Use the second test tube and the second iron nail for comparison.


Observation and conclusion:-
It is observed that the blue colour of the solution starts fading and the iron nail becomes brownish in colour.The change takes place due to the following displacement reaction.In this reaction iron has displaced copper from copper sulphate.

Fe(s) + CuSo4(aq)-------> FeSo4(aq) + Cu(s)
