# ac has split rings( commutator) and dc has slip rings....
# ac the direction of current changes whereas it dc it is unidirectional
# ac converts mechanical to electrical whereas dc converts electrical to mechanical
# in ac we connect a galvanometer whereas in dc we connect a batter to provide potential difference
# ac = alternating and dc = direct................

Hii
Alternating Current Generator is  an electric generator, that helps to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. It can be used to generate voltage to turn a motor.

A DC generator is an electrical machine that converts mechanical energy into direct current electricity.  The application of  generators is very much restricted for its dropping voltage characteristic. They are used to charge battery because they can be made to give constant output voltage.

Hope it helps u out
