Explanation:

1)wheel and axle" can be similar or even same. But in the simple machines classification their purposes differ:

Pulley is used to change the direction of a rope or a chain. The actual rotation of the pulley wheel is a side effect.

Wheel and axle are used to amplify rotational force. The force can be provided through a rope wrapped around the wheel, but the change of direction is a side effect.

A first-class lever has the fulcrum in the middle and the load and effort on each side of the fulcrum.A third class lever has the force in between the fulcrum and the load.

. 2nd class levers have the fulcrum on one end and the load in between the fulcrum and the force. A third class lever has the force in between the fulcrum and the load.

machines are comprised of two or more simple machines in an effort to more efficiently exert force, like the cutting of an object. The blades of the scissors are a pair of wedges in a cross shape which pivot around a fulcrum. The attached handles are levers.A lever is a stick or plane that rotates on a central point called a fulcrum. See-saws, tongs, scissors and nail clippers are all examples of this simple machine.

(1) Pulley and Wheel and Axle

  • It is a simple machine with a wheel with grooves with a rope attached to it. While a wheel and axle is a simple machine with a wheel and a rod to push it.
  • Pulley is used to pull things from deep ends and bring them to the top. While a wheel and axle is used to transport things from places.
  • Example of pulley is a well. Example of wheel and axle is a wheel barrow.

(2) First class lever and second class lever

  • First class lever is when the fulcrum is between the load and the effort. Second class lever is when the load is between the fulcrum and the effort.
  • Example of first class lever is a seesaw. Example of second class lever is a nutcracker.

(3) Second Class Lever and Third Class Lever

  • Second class lever is when the load is between the fulcrum and the effort. Third class lever is when the effort is between the load and the fulcrum.
  • example of second class lever is wheel barrow. the example of third class lever is fishing rod.

(4) A pair of scissors and a nail cutter.

  • a pair of scissors can be used to cut paper and a nail cutter is used to trim nails

Similiarities between nail cutter and scissors.

Both and levers and wedges.

Both are first class levers
