• India has its Northern plains or the Indo-Gangetic plains which is formed by the silts deposited by the Himalayan rivers and its tributaries. These alluvial soils are highly fertile and cultivable.

• The Northern mountains of India consists the highest range of peaks like Mt. Everest, K2 (Godwin Austin) and Kanchenjunga that provides a gift of high source of rivers and forest wealth.

• The Eastern coastal plains stretching its wings from the Eastern Ghats to the Bay of Bengal and the Western coastal plains stretching from Tamil Nadu in the south to the West Bengal in the north, provides rich fertile soil for cultivation, increases the national and international trade through the ports and encourages the most popular economic activity of coastal areas, i.e. fishing.
