Answer:

x + 2y = 1.6

2x + y = 1.4

multiply by 10 to the both equations

10x + 20y = 16.........(1)

20x + 10y = 14...........(2)

so from (1)

x =( 16 - 20y )/10

put this value of x in equation (2)

20(( 16 - 20y )/10)+ 10y = 14

320 - 400y + 100y = 140

-300y = 140 - 320

y = -180 / -300

= 60 / 100

= 60 x 10^(-2)

y = 0.6

put this value of y in equation (1)

10x + 20(0.6) = 16

10x + 12 = 16

x = (16 - 12)/10

x = 4 / 10

x = 4 x (10)^(-1)

x = 0.4
