x + y = 14 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  -  -  - (1) \\ x - y = 4\:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \: \:  \:  \:  -  -  - (2)

Now, Subtracting equation (2), from equation (1), we get,

(x + y) - (x - y) = 14 - 4 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x + y - x + y = 10 \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  2y = 10 \\\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:   y =  \frac{10}{2}  = 5

From equation (2), we have,

 =  > x = 4 + y \\  =  > x = 4 + 5 \\  =  > x = 9

Hence,

{ \boxed{x = 9}} \\ { \boxed{y = 5}}
