(a) Ethanoic acid also called acetic acid CH_{3}COOH gives brisk effervescence when reacts chemically with sodium hydrogen carbonate.  

b) When ethyne is heated in the presence of air incomplete burning takes place (sooty flame) because of limited supply oxygen. That flame produced is not hot enough for melting metals and it is not used for welding .

c) Addition reaction is the one which is characteristic of unsaturated hydrocarbons (like alkenes and alkynes)
