v²-u²=2as
1²-4²=2*a*20
a=15/40
F=ma
20*15/40=7.5 N
PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIEST IF HELPFUL!!!

pinkspink23: but still u wont get 4 N
07161020: ans would be 7.5 N
pinkspink23: actually dats the rght answer lekin in this book they have given the answer to be 4N
07161020: np i may be misprint
07161020: PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIEST IF HELPFUL!!!
07161020: and my last ans too
07161020: plz
pinkspink23: yea
07161020: thsnkd then

a = (v² - u²) / (2S)
= (1² - 4²) / (2 × 20)
= -0.375 m/s²

F = ma
= 20 kg × (-0.375 m/s²)
= -7.5 N
Here -ve sign indicates that Force should be applied in opposite direction to the motion of body

Magnitude of Force to be applied is 7.5 N

pinkspink23: thank u
JunaidMirza: You're welcome
