Step-by-step explanation:

if you are depreciating it by straight line methode then it will be :-

15000×20%= rs.3000

therefore in the 1st yr its value is :-

15000- 3000= rs. 12000

2nd yr. :-

12000- 3000 = rs. 9000

3rd yr. :-

9000-3000= rs.6000

4th yr. :-

6000-3000= rs. 3000

By written down method:-

15000×20%= rs 3000

so 1st yr. :-

15000- 3000= rs 12000

now in the 2nd yr. the dep. will be on the final value i.e. rs. 12000 and so on till 4th yr. i.e rs. 6144

The articles price = 15000 rs

The rate by which it depreciates = 20% p.a (per year)

from here there can be 2 paths ,

which is the easiest :

15000 - (20 % * 15000 * 4) = your answer

15000 - (20/100 * 15000 * 4)

15000 - (3000 * 4)

15000 - 12000

3000 rs

Voila !!
