Analyzing the functioning of parliamentary democracy in India

Democracy can be defined commonly as the government for the people and by the people. In this type of government, people elect their own leaders and they select who they want as their ruler.

One of the main characteristics in this type of government is the ability to vote.

In India there is a democratic system in which a party system is used. In party based political system the voting right gets diminished in regard to choice. Because there is less choice. In this case scenario the privilege to vote is not high.

In this the variety of choices get cut down since you have to make do. Whereas the system for a democracy should be different.

Before the introduction of political system following world wars and treaty of Westphalia, the system was different. Following that every tactic, political in nature became related to soft power. Where people needed to have full liberty of choice they started getting limited liberty.

Achieving a direct democracy and a complete democracy in this world is near to impossible due to how the political systems including India has evolved, however trying to keep the rigging to a minimum and actually letting people vote for their representative is the need of the hour.
