Sucrose is a simple sugar. Yes, most plants store food in the form of starch, but certain food plants like cane and beet store food in the form of sucrose. That's the major source of sugar extraction for humans. Also, in many fruits, such as pineapple and apricot, sucrose is the main sugar.

Hence, only few major "food plants" store food in form of sucrose, whereas others store food in the  form of starch.
