Here, no. of prized tickets = no. of favourable outcomes = 5.

Total no. of outcomes = 995 + 5 = 1000.

Thus, probability of winning a prize = 5/1000 = 1/200 or, 0.05 or, 2.5%

Number of Blank tickets = 995 .

Number of Prized tickets = 5 .

Total number of tickets = Number of blank tickets+ Number of prize tickets.

= 995+5

= 1000

Favourable outcomes (Winning a prize) = 5

 \boxed{ \bf{probability(winning \: a \: prize)}}

 =  \boxed{ \bf{ \frac{favourable \: outcomes}{total \: outomes} }}

 =  \bf{ \frac{5}{1000} }

 =  \bf{ \frac{1}{200} }

 \boxed{ \bf{note}}

Probability can never be greater than 1 .

It can also never be smaller than 0 .
