The ferritin level will decrease.

Ferritin refers to the protein, which stores iron, discharging it when the body requires it. The highest concentration of ferritin is usually found in the cells of the liver called hepatocytes. A lower than usual concentration of ferritin can suggest that one is having iron deficiency. This can take place when one does not consume enough iron in the daily diet.

Another condition, which influences the levels of ferritin in the body is anemia that is when one does not possess sufficient red blood cells for iron to combine with.

The ferritin level should be increased in the case of iron deficiency anemia.

Explanation:

  • The iron deficiency anemia is a state where the body does not get enough iron from the diet.
  • The ferratin is an extracellular matrix protein that helps in the storage of iron and it also releases this stored iron in a controlled manner at times of need.
  • When the levels of iron is low in the body the subsequent levels of ferritin is also lower.
