no smell of any object ( ex. perfume ) is not matter.
As we know anything that occupies space and has mass is known as matter.
therefore smell is not matter

We know that anything substance which occupies space and has certain mass is called matter. We can identify many matter in our surroundings. The matter can exist as solid, liquid and gases mainly.

The smell of clove or cardamom is basically due to certain gaseous components present in them. Hence they will be gases type of matter. But the sense of smell is a sense not a matter here.

The smell of perfume, or cardamom or clove are due to gaseous components so they are type of matter only.
