HELLO FRIEND!!

During the First World War, two Power blocs were formed.

=> Triple Entente, which comprised the countries Russia, France and United Kingdom (Britain). The US joined later.

=> Triple Alliance, which comprised the countries of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Italy.

Later, Italy left the Triple Alliance and joined the war against Germany.

However, the team of Germany was defeated by the Triple Entente.
Hence, the countries who defeated Germany were:

>> Britain
>> France
>> Russia
>> America

Now, Effect of the World War on Germany.

=> The Treaty of Versailles, signed in France, imposed severe terms on the country.

=> Germany had to pay 33 billion dollars as war indemnity (FINE).

=> The military power of Germany was crushed. The army was limited to one lakh men, navy was limited to 15000, there were only 36 ships, and air force and U-boats (submarines) were banned.

=> Germany had to cede the industrial cities, Alsace and Lorraine to France, which France lost during the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871). Germany also had to give its coal-rich Saar Basin to France for 15 years.

=> Germany had to surrender many industrial areas of Silesia to Poland, and the Rhine valley had to be demilitarised.

=> Eupen and Malmedy were given back to Belgium.

Thus, this proves that the terms were indeed very severe on Germany. This caused a great feeling of insecurity among the Germans. There was economic crisis too, as the First World War resulted in a loss in hard cash. In Germany, the Democratic government could not solve the problems of inflation, or unemployment.

Hence, the people resorted to Dictatorship. Adolf Hitler formed the Nazi Party, which came into existence on 1933. He crushed opposition and had imperialistic policies. He wanted "WAR". He preached the Gospel of Victorious Sword, according to which, he said that those who don't wish to fight do not have the right to exist in the WORLD.

This gradually led to the SECOND WORLD WAR.

THANKS!
