• We all know that we need energy to stay alive this energy comes from the food we eat during digestion this food is broken down into simpler substances, for example bread, potato, rice contain carbohydrates, these carbohydrates are broken broken down to form glucose this glucose combines with oxygen in the cells of our body and provides energy. The special name of this process is called respiration.
 • The food gives us energy with the help of respiration so respiration is an exothermic reaction.

Reaction:-

C6H12O6 + 6O2 will give 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy

Hope it may help uh!!!!

<i> Respiration is considered as an exothermic reaction because in respiration oxidation of glucose takes place which produces large amount of heat energy.

C6H12O6 (aq) + 6O2 (g) → 6CO2 (g) + 6H2O (l) + Energy
