Chemical properties of metals:-1)Easily corrodible 2)Can lose electrons 3)Form basic oxides 4)Have lower electronegativities 4)Acts as very good reducing agentsChemical properties of non-metals:-1)Generally, contain 4-8 electrons in the outer shell 2)Readily lose or gain valence electrons 3)Form acidic oxides 4)High electronegative elements 5)Great oxidizing agents.

hello friend...
following are some chemical properties of metals and non-metals.
1. when metal reacts with oxygen it gives metal oxide while, non-metal reacts with oxygen it gives acidic or neutral oxide.
2. when metal reacts with dilute acid it gives metal salt and hydrogen while non-metal doesn't show any reaction.
3. when metal reacts with water it gives metal oxide and hydrogen gas while non-metal doesn't show any reaction.
hope it will help you...
best of luck...
