Why are metallic oxide called basic oxide?​

Metallic oxides are basic in nature because they react with dilute acids to form salt and water. They also react with water to form metal hydroxides which are alkaline in nature, as these metal hydroxides release OH- ions in solution. Therefore non metallic oxides are acidic in nature.

Metallic oxide are basic in nature because when it is dissolve in water then it's form base. similarly when non-metallic oxide dissolve in water it's form acid. Mettalic oxide are called basic in nature cause they react with acid to form salt and water so it is know as basic oxide..
