- The vector also requires a selectable marker.
- It helps in identifying and eliminating non transformants by selectively permitting the growth of the transformants.
- A bacterium which has modified due to the introduction of a piece of foreign DNA is called transformant.
- The process through which a piece of DNA is introduced in a host bacterium is called transformation.
