An electrocardiogram — abbreviated as EKG or ECG — is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat. With each beat, an electrical impulse (or “wave”) travels through the heart. This wave causes the muscle to squeeze and pump blood from the heart.

The recording is called Electrocardiogram.
It gives us information on heart beat, cardiac rhythm, infarction, electrolyte changes, etc.
It doesn't give any information on blood pressure, cardiac output.
This was invented by Dutch scientist William Einthoven.
3 types of lead connections are used.
a) Bipolar limb leads
b) Unipolar limb leads(augmented)
c) Chest leads.
