It's very easy.

When we pass current in the armature ,the armature being inside in a magnetic field rotates due to force on a current carrying conductor.

By Fleming's left hand rule we find the rotation is anti-clockwise .thus the motor rotates.

After half revolution the direction of current changes thus the direction of force also changes and the coil rotates again anti-clockwise .

Thus like this the motor works .
