Is there any change in mass when a substance changes its state.......explain with examples

An explanation of why mass does not change during a physical change. The examples used are melting and boiling. Animations are used to show that atoms and molecules are not made or destroyed.

When a substance changes its state , there will not be any change in the mass of substance . For example , if we change 100 grams of water (liquid) to ice(solid) , the mass of ice will be same i.e., 100 grams . This shows there is no change in the mass even if a substance changes its state .

singhvidit1999: no this is not the full answer to the problem as the law of conservation of mass is not applicable for the nuclear reactions as the mass changes even the whole atom changes in that case but for normal physical changes this answer is appliacable
