The average age of a man and his son is 18 years. The ratio of their ages is 5:1 respectively. What will be the ratio of their ages after 6 years?

sum of father's and son's age = 18x 2 = 36

Father age = 5x

Son's age = x

5x + x 36

6x = 36

x = 6

So father's age = 30

Son's age =6

after 6 years

Father = 30 + 6 = 36

Son = 12

ratio 36:12  =  3:1
