Because if the valency turns out to be greater than one, and the compound is a radical ion, it might cause confusion. To avoid it, brackets are used

I'm explaining u with your example..
Here the 2outside the bracket tells u that you have two of each atom inside the bracket.So in CA(OH)2,u have one calcium atom,two oxygen atoms and two hydrogen atoms.
